Mountain West Softball Weekly Release
Spartans Off To Hot Start
San José State opened up the 2014 season with a bang, scoring 11 runs in each of its first three games, en route to going 6-0 at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz., last weekend. It’s the first time since 1994 that the Spartans scored 10-plus runs in three-straight games. By virtue of their hot start, the Spartans moved into the receiving votes category in the latest USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll. San José State remains in Arizona this week, as it takes part in the Littlewood Tournament in Tucson, hosted by the University of Arizona.

The 16 K’s broke the old mark of 13, set by Tara Thompson on Feb. 28, 1995 at Hawai‘i-Hilo. Johnson leads the MW with 40 strikeouts on the season.
