Cowgirls, Rebels Play To Rare MW Championship Shootout

Wyoming and UNLV played in the first shootout in the Mountain West Women’s Soccer Championship since 2008 on Nov. 4 at the UNM Soccer Complex. Tied 1-1 after regulation, the two teams played through two 10-minute overtime periods without scoring a goal, setting the stage for just the seventh penalty-kick shootout in MW tournament history. The sevneth-seeded Cowgirls outlasted the Rebels 4-2 to advance to the second round, where they take on No. 3 Boise State.

Utah State Flips The Script

Utah State dropped a 2-0 decision to Nevada in its first-ever Mountain West match. The Aggies, the No. 5 seed in the MW Championship, turned the tables against the No. 8 Wolf Pack on Nov. 4, as they won the match 2-0 to advance to the second round. Utah State will take on host and fourth-seeded New Mexico.
