San Diego State Set To Face UCLA In 2013 NCAA Tournament

San Diego State, the two-time Mountain West regular-season and tournament champion, will take on No. 2 seed UCLA in the opening round of the 2013 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship, as announced on Monday by the NCAA.

The first round match will take place at 7 p.m. PT on Nov. 15 at Drake Stadium, home site for the Bruins. The winner of Friday’s match will face either Ohio State (10-6-3) or Kentucky (13-6-1) in next week’s second round.

The Aztecs (13-6-2) enter the NCAA tournament having won their last seven matches. They are no strangers to the Bruins (17-1-2), having played them twice in the last year. The two teams squared off back on Sept. 13, with the Bruins prevailing by a 2-0 margin. UCLA eliminated San Diego State from last year’s NCAA tournament with a 3-0 victory in the Sweet 16.

UCLA, ranked No. 2 in the latest NSCAA Coaches’ Poll, won the Pac-12 regular-season and tournament titles. The Bruins have not allowed more than one goal in a match this season.
