Game Date Announced for 2014 Poinsettia Bowl

SAN DIEGO - San Diego's bowl season officially kicks off at 6:30 p.m. PT, Tuesday, Dec. 23 as the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl celebrates its 10th anniversary. The game, which will be played at Qualcomm Stadium and be televised nationally on ESPN, will feature a bowl-eligible Navy team versus a team from the Mountain West. The Midshipmen, who played in the inaugural game in 2005, will be making their fourth appearance versus a Mountain West team, the anchor conference from the start. Navy was here most recently in 2010 when it faced San Diego State.

In 2013, Mountain West runner-up Utah State (9-5, 7-1 MW) posted a 21-14 victory over Mid-American Conference runner-up and then-No. 23 Northern Illinois in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. The Aggies, who played in their third straight bowl game for the first time in program history, also secured back-to-back bowl wins for the first time.
