Three Mountain West Student-Athletes Named to 2014 Louisville Slugger All-America Team

TUCSON, Ariz. – Three Mountain West student-athletes were named to the 2014 Louisville Slugger NCAA Division I All-American baseball teams today by Collegiate Baseball newspaper. San Diego State closer Michael Cederoth garnered first-team honors, while UNLV starter Erick Fedde was placed on the second team. Fresno State outfielder Jordan Luplow was named to the third team.

Cederoth, a first-team All-Mountain West selection in 2014, enters the NCAA Tournament with an MW season-record tying 20 saves in 32 appearances and 51.0 innings pitched this season. The junior from San Diego, California, has struck out 55 batters, walked 28 and holds an earned run average of 2.29. He has a 6-2 record and is a semifinalist for the NCBWA Dick Howser Trophy.

Fedde, the 2014 MW Pitcher of the Year, recorded a 1.76 ERA in 11 appearances, all starts, this spring. The junior from Las Vegas, Nevada, was 8-2 on the year and struck out 82 batters before having his season end prematurely in May with an injury.

The 2014 MW Player of the Year, Luplow finished the season with a .377 batting average, while scoring 40 runs and driving in 48 in 57 games played. The junior from Clovis, California, recorded 21 doubles, one triple, nine home runs and 36 walks during the year. Luplow is a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award.
