New Mexico’s Josh Walker Named to 2014 NCBWA Preseason All-America Team

New Mexico pitcher Josh Walker was named to the 2014 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Preseason All-America Team today.  Walker, a senior reliever for the Lobos, was named to the third team.

Walker led the 2013 Mountain West regular season champions with an 11-1 record and seven saves in 29 appearances. His 11 wins was the most in the MW last season, while his seven saves ranked third. The native of Rio Rancho, N.M., recorded an ERA of 3.66, fifth best in the Conference, over 78.2 innings pitched.  He made four starts late in the season, including a complete game shutout at Fresno State on May 10. Walker gave up 22 walks, fourth fewest in the league, and struck out 55 batters during the season.

The 2014 collegiate baseball season begins Friday, Feb. 14.
