Colorado State Earns 2013 MW Women's Volleyball Title

The Colorado State women’s volleyball team earned the 2013 Mountain West regular season championship on Saturday, Nov. 16.  It is the Rams’ fifth consecutive MW championship title and 11th overall in 15 years of MW action.  It is also the second time CSU has won five consecutive titles during the history of the league (2000-04).

One day after the No. 10 Rams improved to 16-0 in MW play with a 3-0 victory over Air Force, CSU won the Conference title outright when Utah State defeated Fresno State 3-0 to drop the Bulldogs to 11-5 in MW action with four matches left in the season.  If Colorado State finishes MW play undefeated, it will be just the third squad in league history to do so (2003: CSU, 14-0; 2006: Utah, 16-0).

With the championship title, the Rams earn the Mountain West’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, CSU’s 19th in a row. Colorado State’s 25-0 start to the season is a Mountain West record and ties the MW record for consecutive wins set by Utah during the 2006 season.

The Rams travel to San José State and Fresno State this week, before wrapping up the regular season against San Diego State and UNLV at home. The trophy presentation will take place on Nov. 29, after the match against UNLV. Colorado State will find out its NCAA tournament destination on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. MT/6:30 p.m. PT on ESPNU.
