Colorado State Advances to NCAA Volleyball Tournament

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Mountain West champion Colorado State will face Cal State Northridge in the first round of the 2013 NCAA Tournament on Thursday, Dec. 5 in Los Angeles.  The Rams will be making their 19th consecutive appearance and 25th overall in the national postseason event.

CSU will play the Big West tri-champion Matadors (23-6) at 5 p.m. PT at the Galen Center, on the campus of USC, for the opportunity to face the winner of America East Conference champion New Hampshire (20-12) and Pacific-12 Conference foe Southern California (26-5) in the Second Round of the Los Angeles sub-regional. The winner of the Second Round match on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. PT will advance to the Los Angeles Regional, also hosted by USC on Dec. 13-14.

Colorado State, under the direction of head coach Tom Hilbert, finished the regular season 28-1 overall and 19-1 in conference play.  The Rams earned the league’s automatic bid for the ninth time after a historic 27-0 run to start the season.

Colorado State has advanced all 15 seasons since the Mountain West formed in 1999. Four current Mountain West members (Colorado State, New Mexico, San Diego State and UNLV) have represented the league in the NCAA Tournament.
