Mountain West Women's Volleyball Weekly Release
The Mountain West Network powered by Campus Insiders will feature nine matches this week, starting with the Air Force at New Mexico on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
Colorado State earned its fifth consecutive MW championship on Saturday, Nov. 16 when Utah State defeated Fresno State, dropping the Bulldogs to 11-5 with four matches left for the Rams in the regular season.
Colorado State (25-0) is one of two teams in the nation that remains undefeated, along with Missouri (31-0). The Rams’ next match is Thursday, Nov. 21 at San José State, while the Tigers host Mississippi State on Friday, Nov. 22.
Colorado State’s 25-0 start is the best in MW history, passing the record of 20-0 set in 2001 by CSU and in 2005 by BYU. The 25 straight wins ties the MW record for consecutive victories (25 - Utah, Sept. 3-Nov. 24, 2006, after a 2-2 start to the season).
Four MW student-athletes were named Capital One Academic All-District teams this season: Ayesha Hein, Air Force (Jr., District VII, First Team); Lena Skipper, New Mexico (Sr., District VII, First Team); Marissa Brand, Fresno State (Sr., District VIII, First Team); and Madeline Westman, UNLV (Sr., District VIII, First Team). All four student-athletes have earned at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average and are a starter for their respective teams. All first-team selections move on to the Capital One Academic All-America ballot.
