Sixteen MW Football Players Invited To 2015 NFL Scouting Combine

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Sixteen former Mountain West football players representing eight MW institutions have been invited to the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine. The 2015 NFL Scouting Combine will be held from Feb. 17-23 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Highlighting the list of invitees is 2014 MW Offensive Player of the Year, quarterback Garrett Grayson of Colorado State. Grayson led the Rams to their first national ranking since 2003, reaching as high as No. 21 in both the USA Today/Coaches and Associated Press Polls. He was the Conference leader in passing yards (4,006), passing yards per game (308.2), touchdowns (32), passing efficiency (166.2) and second in total offense (304.6).

Boise State running back Jay Ajayi will also participate in the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine. Ajayi led the Broncos to the MW Mountain Division title, the MW Championship and a 38-30 victory over then-No. 10 Arizona in the Fiesta Bowl. The junior finished the 2014 season with 1,823 rushing yards on 347 attempts (5.3 yards per carry) and scored 28 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 50 passes for an additional 535 yards and scored four more touchdowns.

Leading the charge on the defensive side of the ball is Fresno State free safety Derron Smith. Smith was named the 2013 and 2014 MW Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. He finished his career with 15 interceptions. Was a three-time first team All-MW honoree.
