Three Bulldogs Finish First

The divers lead the Bulldogs with their outstanding showing in the 3- meter dive taking first, second and the fourth place finish. Hannah Prigge scored a 289.85, an NCAA qualifying mark, to win the event. Stacey Luke came in second with a 254.20 and in fourth place was Lacie Ruth with a lifetime best time score of 223.95.
In swimming, Alex Madsen won the 200 IM with a speedy time of 2:06.72. She beat the second place finisher by more than a second.
"Alex had a great day in all three of her races and the divers did awesome with their first, second and fourth place finish," said assistant swimming coach Pat Ota.
Also taking first in her event was senior sprinter Dani Yoho. She timed in at 23.62 in the 50 yard freestyle. Freshman Leah Hatayama had an impressive swim in the race as well finishing sixth with a time of 24.59.
Freshman Kelly Simmons recorded a lifetime best time in the 500 freestyle with a 5:11.89. She had the highest Bulldog finish in the event placing sixth with Lucy Titchin right behind her in seventh with a 5:11.97.
The Bulldogs had two second place finishes in both the relay events. In the 800 freestyle relay the 'Dogs clocked in with a 7:46.25 and in the 200 medley relay they came in at 1:47.77.
"We really had some girls step up today and we will need to bring even more big swims tomorrow to catch San Diego," said Ota.
The Bulldogs will compete in the final two sessions of the Beach Cup Saturday with competition starting at 10 a.m.
