Feb. 22, 2013
SAN ANTONIO, Texas (UNLVRebels.com) -
UNLV won a pair of individual titles on Friday night and stand in fourth place after three days of action at the 2013 Mountain West Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, held at the Palo Alto Aquatic Center. The Rebels have 313 points, seven behind third-place Wyoming. San Diego State is the overall leader at 516.5 points while Boise State has moved into second with 360.5.
Junior Katelyne Herrington became the first Rebel to win an event at this year's championships as she won the 100 fly in a NCAA 'B' time of 52.55. Her morning swim of 52.18 was both a new UNLV and Mountain West record, and was .07 seconds off an automatic 'A' time. She is the first Rebel to win a conference title in the 100 fly since Nicole Hunscher at the 1994 Big West Championships. Two more Rebels scored in the event, with senior Carmen Robb placing eighth in 54.76 and freshman Jessica Wong was 14th (55.91).

Robb's time was also a 'B' standard. Rachel Dixon added an eighth-place swim in the event, finishing in 55.34.
The night started off with Dixon, Julia Fehervari, Herrington and Robb finishing fourth in the 200 free relay in a time of 1:31.74, second-fastest in UNLV history and just .14 seconds out of second place. Dannica Brennan followed with a 15th-place swim in the 400 IM (4:25.98).
Three Rebels scored in the 200 free, led by Jessica Heim's fifth-place swim of 1:48.41, while Fehervari was eighth in 1:50.85. Brittany Ozar added a 12th-place swim (1:49.98). The final Rebel to score on the night was Nakayla Chan in the 100 breast, placing 10th in 1:03.02.
