Day Two At NCAAs

FRESNO, Calif. - Day one of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships were full of energy and excitement as the nation's best collegiate swimmers and divers competed in the 200 free relay, 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free, 400 medley relay and the 1-meter dive. Fresno State's sprinter Dani Yoho competed in the 50 free and diver Hannah Prigge competed in the 1-meter dive on day one.

In the 50 free, Yoho swam a quick 22.77 in the preliminary round, but in a race that comes down to hundredths of a second, Yoho placed 39th out of 56 swimmers. Arizona's Margo Geer won the NCAA National title for the 50 free with a time of 21.73.

In the 1-meter dive, Prigge finished 38th with the score of 225.10. Out of 40 divers only the top 16 advanced to the final round. Today, Friday, March 22 Prigge will compete in the 3-meter dive with a total of 40 divers competing as well.

Tonight the NCAA finals will broadcast live on ESPN 3 starting at 4 p.m. PT. The prelims, which will not be aired live on ESPN 3, will began at 8 a.m. PT and the swimmers and divers will compete in the 200 medley relay, 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 free, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 800 free relay and the 3-meter dive.
