Rebels Continue Success In Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The UNLV men's and women's swimming teams added four more wins on the second day of competition at the Mizzou Invitational on Friday at the Mizzou Aquatic Center. The Rebel women are in fourth place with 361 points out of the nine-team field, while UNLV's men are third with 517.5 points, just half a point out of second place. Missouri leads the team standings on both sides.
The four wins came from the men's team, pushing their total to seven for the meet. Three came in individual events, starting with Giacomo Gremizzi's win in the 400 IM in a time of 3:45.58. That gave him a sweep of the IM events after winning the 200 IM on Thursday.
David Szele added a second win in the 100 breast, touching the all in a time of 53.37. Henrique Machado followed with a win in the 100 back in 47.45. The final win of the night was provided by the Rebels' 800 free relay. Samuel Lameynardie, Tom Paco-Pedroni, Balint Batka and Gremizzi teamed up to post a winning time of 6:29.43.
The top performers from the women's side included Carmen Robb, who placed second in the 100 back. Nakayla Chan finished fourth in the 100 breast, and the Rebels' 200 medley relay team of Robb, Chan, Katelyne Herrington and Rachel Dixon posted a runner-up finish.
The three-day event concludes on Saturday night.
