Rebels Shine In Back And Fly Events On Day Two

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's and women's swimming and diving team posted a total of six wins on the second day of action at the UNLV Winter Invitational on Sunday night at Buchanan Natatorium. The three-day meet will conclude on Monday night.
In the night's first event, the 200 medley relay, the Rebel men turned in a first-place time of 1:30.13, thanks to the team of Henrique Machado, David Szele, Cody Roberts and Guilherme Passos. The next win also came from the UNLV men's squad, with Giacomo Gremizzi taking first in the 400 IM with a time of 3:56.12.
The Rebels swept the 100 fly event, as Katelyne Herrington touched the wall in a time of 54.56 to win the women's race. Roberts meanwhile posted a time of 48.92 to win the men's event.
Another sweep came in the 100 back. Carmen Robb finished first on the women's side after touching the wall in a time of 54.14. Machado was the men's winner, winning by almost two seconds in a time of 48.19.
UNLV leads the team standings on the men's side with 769 points, with Pacific standing in second (612), Fresno Pacific in third (383), Concordia fourth (351), Colorado Mesa fifth (224), Team Arena sixth (40) and Whittier seventh (35).
New Mexico is the women's leader with 728.5 points. Pacific is second with 599.5, UNLV third with 536, Fresno Pacific fourth (218), Cal State East Bay fifth (195), Azsua Pacific sixth (84), Concordia seventh (53), Whittier eighth (30) and Colorado Mesa ninth (24).
