Steiner Named Conference Diver Of The Week

Jan. 9, 2013

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State's Anna Steiner has earned Mountain West Diver of the Week honors for meets contested from Jan. 4-7, 2013. It is the first Conference weekly accolade for the junior from Seattle, Wash.

Steiner captured first place in the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events in the Aztecs' 67-58 dual win over Tulane on Jan. 7. Steiner recorded a career-high score of 281.25 on the 1-meter board and a season-best 301.65 on the 3-meter board. Both marks qualify Steiner for the NCAA Diving Zones in March.

Both of her marks were also personal seaosn bests while her score on the 1-meter board was a career high and ranks as the second-highest in school history. Her scores on both boards were also the fifth-highest marks ever produced at the Aztec Aquaplex.

San Diego State will have a short turnaround as it prepares to travel north for a double dual meet against UCLA and Kansas on Saturday, Jan. 12, at 11:00 a.m. at UCLA's Spieker Aquatics Center in Los Angeles. The divers will also compete at the UCLA Diving Invitational this weekend (Jan. 11-13).
