Bolin Recipient of MW Senior Recognition Award
Feb. 25, 2012
OKLAHOMA CITY – TCU’s Ashley Bolin is the 2012 recipient of the Mountain West Senior Recognition Award, it was announced Saturday evening at the Mountain West Swimming and Diving Championships.
The award, given to a Mountain West senior for accomplishments in and out of the pool, was chosen by a vote of the league’s coaches.
“I’m totally shocked,” Bolin said. “I’m very honored and it means a lot. It’s been a great four years and a lot of hard work, but I couldn’t have done it without everyone at TCU.”
Bolin is the TCU record holder in the 400-individual medley and also appears on TCU’s all-time top-five performance lists in the 200-free, 500-free and 200-individual medley. In her first three years at TCU, Bolin was an All-Mountain West honoree on six occasions.
The Oshkosh, Wis., native has excelled in the classroom as well, earned Academic All-MW and MW Scholar-Athlete laurels in 2009, 2010 and 2011. In 2011, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America named Bolin an Academic All-American.
She has been named to the Dean’s Honor List at TCU after four semesters and a TCU Scholar, which honors those with 4.0 grade point averages, three times. Bolin is on pace to graduate with Magna Cum Laude honors.
Bolin is a lifetime member of Alpha Epsilon Delta, the health professional honor society. After her graduation in May 2012, she intends to attend medical school.
“Ashley is truly deserving of this award based on her career in and out of the water,” TCU coach Richard Sybesma said. “She’s overcome great obstacles and always represented TCU in a positive manner.”
