FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The College Swimming Coaches Association of America recently honored the Rams with the CSCAA Scholar All-American Team honor for the 2012 spring semester.
Among their hard work in Moby Pool, the 26 athletes that make up the Colorado State swimming and diving team have put in considerable effort in the classroom, accumulating a 3.13 grade-point average.
"I'm very impressed with the strides our athletes have taken in the classroom as well as the pool," commented Head Coach Woody Woodard. "There is a definite commitment from our girls relating to their educational experience at CSU and I'm quite proud of it."
CSU was ranked among 131 Division I teams, tying with Fordham, Texas A&M, Tennessee and Pennsylvania. The team's GPA improved from 3.063 in the fall to 3.132 this spring. This is the sixth time since 2009 the Rams have received this award.
The Scholar All-American Team honor is awarded twice a year, once after each semester. Eligible teams must hold a 3.0 GPA (or converted on a 4.0 scale) or better.
A complete listing of schools in all divisions who have achieved this honor can be found at cscaa.org.
