Lobo Divers Head to Tucson for Wildcat Diving Invitational

Nov. 14, 2012

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Lobo diving squad is heading to Tucson to participate in the Wildcat Diving Invitational which is taking place on the campus of the University of Arizona.

The annual meet is host to some of the best divers in the country and this year is no different. Eight divers from two-time NCAA Champions Cal-Berkeley will be at the meet as well as divers from Stanford, U of A and Arizona State, among others.

Lobos Megan Harper, Aubrey Bush and Michole Timm will be in attendance. Harper and Timm will be diving in the 1 and 3 meter boards as well at the platform. Bush will participate in the 1 and 3 meter contests.

New Mexico has had its fair share of success at the invite and the team hopes to do well this weekend as well.

Last year, former diver and All-American Ashlee Erickson placed second off the 1 meter dive with a score of 290.00; she had the best performance for UNM that weekend. Michole Timm placed eighth in the consolation final of the 3 meter springboard with a score of 243.50 that placed her 16th overall.

In 2010, senior Aubrey Bush, who is having a solid season after coming back from an injury, won the 3 meter platform with a score of 313.05. Then freshman Megan Harper was third in the consolation final placing her 11th overall.

All three of the Lobo divers attending the invite have qualified for NCAA Zones. New Mexico, along with Nevada, are the only Mountain West schools to qualify more than two divers to NCAA Zones.

Events begin Friday, Nov. 16 at noon with the 3 meter preliminaries and final rounds taking place.
