NAMPA, Idaho -
Seniors Angelica Earls and Deborah Amoah led the University of Nevada track and field team with several wins at the Bronco Invitational hosted by Boise State Saturday afternoon.
“I was pleased with our results today,” head coach Shantel Twiggs said. “Debbie had a great day. She execute well after we made an adjustment to her approach. She really put together a series of great jumps. Angelica looked sharp today and Kerri Simmons continued her dominance in the shot put event. We hit some quality training sessions this week and camp really benefitted our team in preparation to meet the demands of the season.”
Amoah took home wins in three events: 60m hurdles (8.69), long jump (5.94m), and triple jump (41-03.00). Amoah’s mark in the triple jump broke her previous school record of 41-0.25 that was set last season. Earls ended the day with wins in two events, finishing first in the 60-meter dash (7.55) and the 200-meter dash (24.59).
Junior Kerri Simmons continued her strong season from the throws group, taking first in the shot put with a mark of 14.14m. Freshman Kennedy Hall placed third in the weighted throw with a mark of 15.56m.
The team will participate in the UW Invitational next week in Seattle, Wash.
