Boise, Idaho– The Fresno State indoor track and field team wrapped up its final day of competition on Saturday with a ninth-place finish in its inaugural Indoor Mountain West Championship meet.

“I’m not pleased with where we finished,” said head coach Scott Winsor. “We could have been a couple spots higher, but we needed to have our distance team healthy today. It hurt us missing Stella [Kubasch] and Marrijte [Molenhuis].”

With two Bulldogs absent from running in the distance events, the ’Dogs were unable to grab the points they needed to keep them in the chase on Saturday.

Meagan McKee placed fourth in the shot put with a distance of 49’-1.00”, followed by Anamanu Folau who logged a 44”-8.25” throw. Neither throw outdid a season-best.

Je’Nia Sears exceled in triple jump on Saturday with a personal-best distance of 38’-2.00”, which placed her fourth in the flight one division.

Breeauna Thompson placed eighth in the 60-meter against her conference foes, running a time of 7.65 seconds. She also registered a fifth-place finish in the 200-meter clocking a time of 24.22 seconds.

“The conference itself shook out the way I thought it would, tight scoring against quality teams and quality athletes,” said Winsor. “We have to get better and get healthy.”

As the indoor season comes to a close, the outdoor season gets going. The men kick their season off on March 2 with the Cal Poly Opener in Palo Alto, while both teams will be in action with a home meet on March 9 with the Cal Poly Dual meet, held at Buchanan High School.
