March 2, 2012
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - With a combined time of 9:35.28, the Air Force distance medley relay team recorded the second-fastest time in Academy history during competition at the Alex Wilson Invitational on Friday, March 2.
Senior Alex Zubey (1200 meters), junior Anthony Delgado (400 meters), sophomore Alex Lindsay (800 meters) and senior Jim Walmsley (1600 meters) became just the second relay squad in Academy history to better the 9:40-mark, as they finished 11th in the final qualifying meet for the distance medley relay.
Delgado now holds a share of the two fastest DMR times in Academy history, as he ran the 400-meter leg of the squad that set the program's all-time mark at the 2011 Alex Wilson Invitational.
Walmsley and Delgado return to the Loftus Sports Center track tomorrow (March 3). Walmsley will compete in the 3000-meter run, while Delgado will compete in the 4x400-meter relay with seniors Manny Smith, freshman Jake Spuller and senior Bryce Bergman.
