Frogs Enjoy Strong Showing At Arkansas Final Qualifier

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Junior Charles Silmon highlighted the TCU track & field performances at the Arkansas Final Qualifer inside Randal Tyson Track Complex Friday.

The Waco, Texas native exploded for a personal-best time of 6.65 seconds in the men’s 60 meter dash finals. His time marks the fastest by any Frog since Bradley Reed was clocked at 6.64 seconds in 2006 and ranks No. 14 in the nation. Silmon made the finals after turning in a time of 6.67 seconds during the preliminary heat. He also competed in the 200 meters, running 21.12 seconds.

On the women’s side, junior Chaniqua Corinealdi turned in a second-place time of 7.43 seconds in the 60-meter finals after finishing at 7.46 seconds in the prelims. The Killeen, Texas, product also clocked in at 24.19 seconds in the 200 meters.

Rounding out the evening, senior Cameron Parker enjoyed a top leap of 47-9 ¼ feet (14.56m) in the men’s triple jump to take third-place accolades.

The 2012 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships begin March 19 in Boise, Idaho. The Frogs’ outdoor season opens with the TCU Invitational in Fort Worth, March 15-17.
