Relays Highlight TCU's Friday Performance At Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas - The TCU track and field program returned to action on the third day of the 85th annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays Friday.

The Horned Frogs pushed both the men’s and the women’s 4x100 relay squads into Saturday’s finals. The men’s squad of senior OJ Stoneham, junior Charles Silmon, sophomore Lavon Collins and senior Mark Barnes rallied around the oval to the tune of 40.35 seconds for eighth place, while the women’s quartet of senior Whitney Gipson, junior Chaniqua Corinealdi, sophomore Veronica Jones and newcomer Lorraine Ugen teamed up to run 45.44 and finish ninth overall.

The women’s 4x400 relay team also enjoyed a solid performance Friday as sophomore Briyanni Thomas, freshmen Ashley Collins and Neferteria Hall and junior Quinterra Charles worked together for a time of 3:37.59 for second-place honors in the fourth heat and 10th-place distinction overall.

Junior Cameron Tabor and freshman Megan Smith stood out for the Frogs from the infield Friday. Tabor, a native of Norman, Okla., finished seventh in the ‘B’ section of the men’s discus, while Smith claimed second overall in the ‘B’ section of the women’s shot put.

The Frogs return to action Saturday for the final day of action in Austin.
