Pole Vaulters Lead T&F at Cal/Nevada Championships

CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Holly Waseloff, Kelsy Hintz and Heather Arseneau took first, second and third in the pole vault to lead the San Diego State track and field team Saturday on the first day of the Cal/Nevada Championships in Claremont, Calif.
The Aztecs sit in first place after three events with 48 points, 28 more than runner-up Nevada. (NOTE: As of press time, SDSU still had athletes scheduled to participate in the 800 meter preliminaries (Josefine Koskinen), the 10,000 meters (Marianne Hogan) and the hammer throw (Whitney Ashley and Ellie Fanaika. Waseloff cleared 12 feet, 7 ½ inches to win the event over 24 other entrants. It was a collegiate personal-best mark by 7.50 inches. Hintz and Arseneau each cleared 12-01.50 to take second and third, respectively. Additionally, Moriah Roberge (sixth, 11-07.50) and Rebecca Turnbow (ninth, 11-01.75) scored for San Diego State in the event.
It was a busy day for Reaser, who also took 12th in the javelin (112-06) and advanced to Sunday's finals in both hurdle events. Reaser had the fastest time of the day in the 100 hurdles (13.78) and the second fastest in the 400 hurdles (60.46).
