Track & field recap: Rams wrap up Day 3 at NCAA Championships

June 8, 2013

EUGENE, Ore. – Colorado State concluded competition at the NCAA Championships Saturday with two All-Americans heading home from Hayward Field.

Trevor Brown, who had already cemented his first-team All-American status Thursday, ran in the final round of the 110-meter hurdles. He clocked 13.69 seconds, finishing eighth, a big improvement over his 24th seed.

“Trevor put in a great effort,” said Head Coach Brian Bedard. “He got himself on TV, and was the eighth best hurdler at the NCAA Championships. Our staff is very proud of him, and he’s only a junior. He’s a great example of the ‘Do it all’ mantra for CSU athletics: great student, outstanding athlete and ambassador for our program.”

Ashley Reid cleared the opening height of 5 feet, 7.75 inches on her first attempt, but wasn’t able to jump over the next bar. She finished tied for 19th.

“Ashley had a great first jump over opening height,” added Bedard. “She jumped well at the next height but her timing on top looked a bit off. She’s been an outstanding leader for our team this season. She brought a great attitude every day.”

Next up on CSU’s schedule is the U.S.A. Championships and Junior Nationals on June 19-22 in Des Moines, Iowa.
