Indoor Track Season Off To Great Start

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State women’s indoor track and field season kicked off Friday afternoon at the Air Force Holiday Open with promise for a great season ahead.

The ’Dogs dominated the Weight Throw event as four Bulldogs placed in the top-5. Caitlin Byrd took top honors with an 18.07M throw. Megan Mckee placed 3rd with a mark of 17.85M, while J’Quyra Moncure-Blue (17.54M) placed behind McKee and AnaManu Folau (16.84M) placed fifth.

In the jumping events the Bulldogs saw Je’Nia Sears win the Long Jump with a mark of 5.83M. Farbrina Espinoza placed right behind Sears with a 5.50M jump.

Breeauna Thompson led the Fresno State in the running events with 3rd place finishes in the 60M (7.59) and 300M (40.04). Shakira Lewis ran a time of 7.67 in the 60M, which placed her behind Thompson in fourth-place.

Fresno State will be off for the Christmas break and resume action on Feb. 2 at the Bronco Classic hosted by Boise State.
