FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's indoor track and field team will get its season underway once again as the Bulldogs get set to travel to Nampa, Idaho for Saturday's Bronco Classic held at Jacksons Indoor Track with action beginning at 9 a.m. (MT).

The Bronco Classic kicks off a four week stretch where the 'Dogs will compete every weekend leading up to the Mountain West Indoor Championships held on Feb. 21-23. The 'Dogs have been on a seven week hiatus getting ready for its stretch run, they last competed on Dec. 7 at the Air Force Blue and Silver Open in Colorado Springs in its season opener.

"After a good start to the season at Air Force in Dec., we're looking forward to getting back on the track this semester," said head coach Scott Winsor. "The Bronco Classic is a chance for a select group of ladies to start us off on the right foot. "

"Of particular interest may be Stella Kubasch who will be competing in the 800m and the mile," Winsor added. "[Stella] didn't compete during the cross country season due to injury and she's probably very anxious to get her college career started."

Saturday's events will begin with the women's high jump at 9 a.m. (MT), while the running events begin at 10:30 a.m.

The Fresno State women will be competing against Division I foes Utah, Utah State, and host school Boise State. Also in competition will be Division II schools Cal State Stanislaus, Cal State LA and Northwest Nazerene. In addition, College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon, NAIA schools, as well as Treasure Valley Community College will be squaring off against the 'Dogs.

One of the 'Dogs rising stars to watch for at the Bronco Classic will be sophomore Je'Nia Sears who opened the season winning the long jump competition with a 5.83M jump in Colorado Springs.

"[Je'Nia] has been looking very good all fall and I know she's hungry for a conference title," said Winsor.

The day will conclude for Fresno State with the women's 4x400 meter relay at 3:40 p.m. Fans can keep up to date with live results on GoBulldogs.com.
