Mountain West Names Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

Boise State senior Kurt Felix has been selected as the Mountain West Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week, while Boise State senior Mele Vaisima has been named the Women's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week.
Hailing from St. Davids, Grenada, Felix earned first-place honors in the men's long jump and men's high jump events, respectively, at the Bronco Classic last weekend in Boise, Idaho. He set a new personal-best mark in the long jump, recording a leap of 24'-6.50" (7.48m) to win the event. That mark ranks fourth in Mountain West history and 27th in the nation this season. Felix also notched a season-best high jump of 6'-10.50" (2.09m), which is tied for first in the MW and 66th in the NCAA this year.
Vaisima, a product of Salt Lake City, Utah, won the women's weight throw title at the Bronco Classic last Saturday in Boise, Idaho. Vaisima recorded a toss of 65'-3.50" (19.90m) to claim the individual crown. Her mark is a meet record and ranks fourth in Mountain West history. She also earned fourth-place honors in the women's shot put at the Bronco Classic, notching a throw of 43'-9.25" (13.34m).
