Mountain West Names Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

Boise State senior Kurt Felix and New Mexico senior Ross Millington have been selected as the Mountain West Co-Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, while UNLV senior Amanda Bingson has been named MW Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week.

Hailing from St. David’s, Grenada, Felix won the men’s heptathlon title at the Boise State Team Challenge last weekend in Nampa, Idaho, setting new Mountain West and Boise State all-time records, respectively, by tallying 5,771 points to capture the individual crown. During the heptathlon, Felix set a career-best mark in the long jump (25’-1.75”) and a season-best mark of 7’-0.25” in the high jump.

A product of Stockport, England, Millington earned third-place honors in the men’s 3,000-meter run at last weekend’s Washington Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash., clocking a time of 7:49.11 in his first race of 2012. Millington’s personal-best mark is a Mountain West all-time record and ranks first in New Mexico history. Millington’s NCAA automatic qualifying mark also ranks fourth in the NCAA this season.

Bingson, a native of Las Vegas, Nev., claimed the women’s weight throw title at the NAU Invitational last weekend in Flagstaff, Ariz. She registered a program-record toss of 70’-3.50 (21.42m) to win the event. Her personal-best mark, which surpassed the Rebels’ previous school record by over three feet, ranks third-best in Mountain West history. Bingson’s toss also ranks first in the Mountain West and fourth in the country this season.
