Millington Earns Co-Athlete of the Week after Record Weekend

Feb. 14, 2012

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of New Mexico Senior Ross Millington has been named one of two Mountain West Co-Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week after his record-shattering performance at the Washington Husky Classic over the weekend.

Millington’s 7:49.11 time in the 3,000-meter run not only placed him third at the Husky Classic in Seattle on Saturday, but also rewrote a pair of records.

The Stockport, England, native set the all-time mark in the 3000m for both the University of New Mexico and the Mountain West, replacing the old record of 7:51.20 that was set by UNM’s Lee Emanuel two years ago at the 2010 edition of the Washington Husky Classic.

Millington’s time also was an NCAA Automatic Qualifying mark and fourth best in the nation in 2012.

This was the first Athlete of the Week recognition for Millington.
