Track and field preview: Rams set out for final weekend before MW championships

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State’s indoor track and field team will travel to Golden, Colo., Friday to compete at the Mines Twilight meet with hopes of putting the final touches on its 2012 regular season.
“For the most part we’re going to rest our team,” said Head Coach Brian Bedard. “It’s going to be a bye week for most of them.”
In total the Rams will send 15-18 athletes to Steinhauer Fieldhouse to compete.
“The bulk of our team trained hard this week,” added Bedard, “and we’ll rest them this weekend.”
With two weeks remaining until the Mountain West indoor championships, Bedard and sprints and hurdles coach Karim Abdel Wahab still believe the Rams can improve in certain areas.
“Karim wanted to keep them sharp and improve some of their times,” mentioned Bedard. “We want them to go into conference strong.”
CSU enters the meet ranked seventh in the Mountain region on the men’s side and 11th on the women’s side.
Competition begins Friday at 1:30 p.m. MST with the women’s shot put.
