Feb. 19, 2013

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado State junior Trevor Brown and Fresno State sophomore Je'Nia Sears have earned Mountain West Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors for meets contested from Feb. 14-17. It is the first MW weekly award this season for Brown, and second of his career. Sears captures her first career MW weekly indoor award.

Brown, a native of Colorado Springs, Colo., finished second in the 60-meter hurdles at the Joe Davies Open in Golden, Colo. on Feb. 16. His time of 7.86 seconds is second-best in the MW this season, just behind his conference record mark of 7.84 that he posted at the Air Force Team Challenge on Feb. 9. Brown's 7.86 time ranks 28th nationally. It was Brown's third result under 7.90 seconds this season. Brown has finished first or second in all five meets he's competed in 2013.

Sears, from Fresno, Calif., won the long jump on Feb. 17 at the Run for the Dream in Fresno, Calif. Her jump of 20'-10.75'' set a new school - and meet - record. It is the top mark in the MW and ranks fifth in the nation this season. Sears broke her own school record from two weeks prior, when she logged a 19'-10.75'' at the Bronco Classic.
