Je'nia Sears Named MW Athlete of the Week

Feb. 19, 2013

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fresno State sophomore Je'Nia Sears has earned Mountain West Women's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors for her record setting performance at the Run for the Dream this past Sunday. It is her first career MW weekly indoor award.

Sears, a Fresno, Calif. native, won the long jump competition at the Save Mart Center Sunday evening with a jump of 20'-10.75'' (6.37m). It set a new school - and meet - record. It is the top mark in the MW and ranks fifth in the nation this season. Sears broke her own school record from two weeks prior, when she logged a 19'-10.75'' (6.06m) at the Bronco Classic.

Sears and the rest of the Bulldog squad will wrap up the indoor track and field season this week at the MW championships in Boise, Idaho, held Thursday through Saturday.
