Six Individuals, Two Relays Earn All-MW Indoor Honors

Feb. 27, 2012

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV indoor track & field team had six individuals and two relay teams named to the 2012 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field All-Conference Team today. Selections for the all-conference team are awarded to the top three finishers in each event at the MW Championships.

In all, the Rebels claimed nine top-three finishes this past weekend, which were the most since 2000, the inaugural year of the Mountain West. The 2000 squad had 10 finishes in the top three overall that year, eight individuals and two relays.

Dating back to 2006, when the MW began recognizing all-conference competitors, UNLV's haul in 2012 is easily the most by the program in the past seven years.

Brett Zorich earned all-conference recognition not only as an individual in the 800m, but as a member of both the 4x400m and distance medley relay teams. Zorich placed first overall with the 4x400m quartet, second in the distance medley and third in the 800m.

Zorich was joined by Secoral Yanez, Emily Blok and Kelsey Williamson on the 4x400m relay team, while Laura Affeld, Lindsay Roach and Alison Bartosch rounded out the distance medley squad.

Individually, Blok and Williamson earned all-conference honors, as well. Blok took second in both the 60m and 200m. Williamson was first overall in the 800m.

The Rebels had three field competitors - Amanda Bingson, Danielle Rios and Ashley Henry - earn all-conference recognition, as well. Bingson and Rios finished second and third, respectively, in the weight throw. Henry was second in the high jump.
