TCU Track & Field Prepares For Arkansas Final Qualifier

FORT WORTH, Texas - Fresh off the 2012 Mountain West Indoor Championships, three members of the TCU track and field squad will travel to take part in the Arkansas Final Qualifier Friday in Fayetteville, Ark.

Sprinters Charles Silmon and Chaniqua Corinealdi will compete in the 60 meters and 200 meters, while triple jumper Cameron Parker is set to perform from the infield.

Silmon received All-Mountain West honors after claiming gold medal accolades in the men's 60 meters and 200 meters last weekend. The Waco, Texas product has a top time of 6.66 seconds in the 60 meters this season, while torching the field with a personal-best time of 21.04 seconds in the 200 meters at the MW Championships.

Corinealdi also earned a pair of conference honors for sweeping the 60 meters and 200 meters championships on the women’s side. The Killeen, Texas product led the way in the 60 meters with her fastest time of 2012 at 7.32 seconds. In the 200 meters, Corinealdi paced the field with a time of 23.61 seconds for the title.

Parker turned in a silver medal performance in the triple jump at the conference meet, enjoying a season’s best leap of 51-2 ¼ feet (15.60m).

The 2012 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships begin March 19 in Boise, Idaho. The Frogs’ outdoor season opens with the TCU Invitational in Fort Worth, March 15-17.
