Bingson Set To Throw At NCAA Indoor Meet

March 7, 2012

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV's Amanda Bingson will represent the Rebels on Friday, March 9 in Nampa, Idaho at the 2012 NCAA Division I Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships. Bingson will participate in the weight throw, which is scheduled to start at 1:00 pm PT.

Bingson earned an automatic qualifying mark in the weight throw on Feb. 11, when she recorded a program-record toss of 70-3.50 (21.42m) at the NAU Invitational in Flagstaff, Ariz. Besides the throw being the best in UNLV history, it was the third-best overall in Mountain West history.

She enters the meet as the No. 4-ranked participant in the weight throw.

The Las Vegas native is no stranger to NCAA Championships, as she finished fourth overall and earned All-America status at the 2011 outdoor competition in the hammer throw.

Bingson is the first Rebel to participate in the indoor meet since Ashley Owens finished second overall in the 60 meters in 2006.

ESPN3 will stream the meet live on March 9 from 4:30-8:45 p.m. PT and March 10 from 5:00-8:15 p.m. PT. A tape delay of the championship will air Sunday, March 18 at 4:30 p.m. PT on ESPNU.

NCAA.com and broncosports.com will stream what ESPN3 is not covering on Friday (9:00 am-4:30 pm PT) and Saturday (9:30 am-5:00 pm PT).
