Track & Field to Host Aztec Invite This Weekend

The San Diego State track and field team is set to host the Aztec Invitational this weekend. The meet spans three days, beginning Thursday with the men's decathlon and the women's heptathlon.

The highlight of the meet will once again be Saturday's invitational field. Other teams scheduled to compete in the invitational field besides SDSU include the Academy of Art, Brigham Young, Cal State Fullerton, Golden West, Hawai'i, Long Beach State, Minnesota, North Dakota State, UC Riverside, South Dakota, Southern Utah, UC Irvine, UC San Diego, UNLV, Utah, Utah Valley, UT-San Antionio and Weber State. The club teams slated to participate in the field include Adidas/Movin' Shoes, Baja California, Flo Fusion Athletics, G3 Throws, MIZUNO, Sojourners Running Club, Team BSK and Triton Track Club.

Many of the same teams/clubs above will have competitors in Friday's open field. Other schools set to come to The Mesa and compete in the open field include Cal State Dominguez Hills, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Colorado Mines, Cuyamaca, Imperial Valley, LA Valley, Mt. SAC, Navy, Northern Michigan, Palomar, San Diego Mesa, Soka, Southwestern and Tulane, and many more club teams.

Including the high school section that will run on Saturday, 1,615 athletes will compete in the three-day meet over 2,320 events.

Sophomore Allison Reaser, who won the heptathlon last outdoor season at the USA Junior Championships and the Mountain West Championships, will kick things off for San Diego State on Thursday in the heptathlon. The two-day, seven-event meet will get underway at noon PT with the 100-meter hurdles.

Reaser will also be the first Aztec competing on Friday when the second day of the heptathlon gets underway with the long jump at 10 a.m.

On Saturday, Marianne Hogan is the first SDSU competitor of the day in the invitational 5,000 meters at 9:20 a.m. PT.
