March 19, 2013

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Air Force senior Brian Ford and Nevada senior Deborah Amoah have earned Mountain West Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors. It is the first-career MW weekly accolade for both student-athletes.

Ford, a native of Alamosa, Colo., was the top collegiate finisher in the Hammer Throw (third overall) on March 16 at the Jerry Quiller Classic in Boulder, Colo. Ford tossed a 191'-0.50'' (58.22m) in his first outdoor meet this season. The throw is a new personal best for the senior, eclipsing his previous best mark by over 20 feet. Ford is currently ranked first in the MW and 22nd nationally this season.

Amoah, from Berlin, Germany, won the Triple Jump at the Hornet Invitational in Sacramento, Calif. Her mark of 42'-7.00'' (12.98m) set a new Nevada school record, and is also a personal-best distance. She is the MW leader and ranks second nationally in the event.
