TCU TRACK & FIELD SWEEPS MOUNTAIN WEST WEEKLY HONORS
Junior sprinter Charles Silmon and freshman long jumper Lorraine Ugen were selected as the Mountain West Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week after opening the season last week at the TCU Invitational.

Hailing from Waco, Texas, Silmon finished first among collegiate competitors in the men's 100-meter dash last weekend at the TCU Invitational. Silmon posted a personal-best time of 10.18 seconds to earn runner-up honors in the event. The only competitor faster than Silmon was U.S. Olympian Wallace Spearmon, who won the race in 10.06 seconds. Silmon's time ranks second in MW history and paces the NCAA during the 2012 outdoor season.

Ugen, a product of London, England, set a new Mountain West record in the women's long jump event last weekend at the Horned Frog Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas. Ugen claimed the individual title by posting a top mark of 22-5 feet (6.83m). Ugen's mark broke the TCU outdoor record and ranks second on TCU's all-time list.
