Rebels Head To The Lone Star State

LAS VEGAS ( - The UNLV track & field program will head to the Lone Star State for three days of competition at the 85th Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays hosted by the University of Texas in Austin. The meet, which actually starts today (Wednesday) and runs through Saturday, March 31, will be held at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

UNLV will have at least one competitor in a total of 11 events, seven of which will take place on the track. The 100m and hammer throw will have participation by two Rebels. Emily Blok will be the busiest competitor wearing the Scarlet and Gray, as she is entered in three events: 100m, 4x100 relay and 4x400m relay.

In all, 17 Rebels are slated to participate this week. Zadia Bryant (100m and 4x100), Secoral Yanez (4x100 and 4x400), Laura Affeld (4x800 and distance medley), Lindsay Roach (4x800 and distance medley), Kelsey Williamson (4x400 and 4x800) and Alison Bartosch (4x800 and distance medley) round out those that are competing in multiple events.

Those scheduled to compete once are: Erin Morris (100m hurdles), Christine Lowe (400m hurdles), Uchechi Anunkor (4x100), Brett Zorich (4x400), Corey Honeycutt (distance medley), Ashley Henry (high jump), Deja Edwards (long jump), Amanda Bingson (hammer), Danielle Rios (hammer) and Myshauna Alexander (javelin).

The four-day meet will be comprised of 200 university and collegiate teams (2,212 athletes) and 631 high school teams (4,179 athletes). A grand total of 6,527 athletes are entered, including 136 that registered as invitational athletes.
