Bingson Reins In Another Weekly Honor
April 17, 2012
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV's Amanda Bingson was named the Mountain West's Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week after her record-setting appearance last weekend at the Rebels' own Randall Cunningham Invitational. This is the third instance that Bingson has earned athlete of the week honors this season with two coming during the indoor campaign. Overall, she has been named to the weekly award four times during her illustrious career.
Bingson, a senior from Las Vegas, set a new Myron Partridge Stadium record en route to winning the women's hammer throw title at the Invitational. Her toss registered a distance of 228-10 (69.75m) for a new stadium standard and it ranks first overall in the nation this season. The throw was only two inches shy of tying her program-record mark of 229-0 (69.79m), which she posted during the 2011 outdoor campaign. Those two throws have placed her second and third overall in the MW's career record book in the event.
