COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -
Air Force freshman Joey Uhle has been selected as the Mountain West Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week, while Air Force senior Kimber Shealy has been named MW Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week.
Uhle, from Powell, Ohio, earned first-place honors in the men’s pole vault at the Front Range Classic last weekend in Colorado Springs, Colo., notching a personal-best mark of 17’-2.75” (5.25m). His mark ties the meet record that teammate Cale Simmons set last season and is the fifth-best clearance in program history. It also ranks second in the Mountain West and 37th in the nation during the 2012 outdoor season.
Shealy, a native of Kennesaw, Ga., set a new Air Force all-time record in the women’s pole vault last weekend at the Front Range Classic in Colorado Springs, Colo., posting a personal-best leap of 13’-1.75” (4.01m) to earn the individual crown. Her height is a new Cadet Outdoor Track & Field Complex record and a new Front Range Classic meet record. It also ranks second in the MW and 49th in the NCAA this season.
