May 16, 2013
At least 10 San Diego State athletes qualified for the NCAA Track & Field Preliminary Rounds, the USTFCCCA announced today. Additionally, Nicole Oudenaarden and Allison Reaser earned a spot into the NCAA Championships in the heptathlon.
The 10 Aztecs qualified for the preliminary championships by being a top-48 declared athletes in the west region. The top-12 finishers in each event at the west preliminary rounds, which will take place May 23-25 in Austin, Texas, will then advance to the NCAA championship meet in Eugene, Ore. (June 5-8).
Oudenaarden and Reaser, meanwhile, officially became the first two SDSU athletes to make the championship meet as they are fifth and 10th, respectively, with 5,774 points and 5,612 points. Unlike the other events, there is no regional qualifier for the heptathlon, since it is a grueling, two-day competition. Instead, the top-24 declared heptathletes in the nation, regardless of region, earn the right to participate In Eugene.
Oudenaarden and Reaser are still going to Austin, however, as both qualified in other events. Oudenaarden is 25th in the long jump (20-00.25 (6.10m)) and Reaser is tied for 13th in the 400-meter hurdles (58.65) and tied for 19th in the 100 hurdles (13.41).

Jasmine Burrell is sixth in the discus throw (181-05 (55.31m)), while Kristen Brown, Alex Evans and LaQuisha Jackson are in the west region in two events. Brown is tied for eighth in the pole vault (14-00.00 (4.27m)) and 24th in the 100 hurdles (13.46), Evans is ninth in the triple jump (42-09.00 (13.03m)) and 48th in the 100 hurdles (13.80) and Jackson is tied for eighth in the 100 (11.31) and 10th in the 200 (23.23).
Deyna Roberson (10th in the 400 hurdles, 58.36), Josefine Koskinen (T-31st in the 800, 2:07.86) and Karen Snapper (T-47th in the pole vault, 12-10.00 (3.91m)) are also into the west region meet as individuals.
