Bedard tabbed as Mountain Region Women's Coach of the Year

June 3, 2013

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Head Coach Brian Bedard was honored with the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Mountain Region Coach of the Year for the 2013 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field season. The announcement was made on Monday.

Bedard, in his 24th year at Colorado State and seventh at the helm of the track & field program, led his team to have two female qualifiers for the NCAA finals in Eugene, Ore., after placing 11 in the NCAA West Preliminary. The Rams finished third in the Mountain West championships this season and earned seven all-conference accolades on the women’s side.

“Head coaches’ awards typically mean you have an outstanding staff working with you,” said Bedard. “I enjoy coming in to work each day with the staff I assembled here at CSU. The award is a tribute to them. They keep me motivated and inspired to do my job.”

Voted on by the nation’s coaches, Bedard will be instructing Jessica Sharbono (discus) and Ashley Reid (high jump) in this week’s final site of the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 5-8. The meet will be broadcast on ESPNU and online on ESPN3 throughout the weekend beginning Thursday.
