Rebels Tabbed To All-America List

June 12, 2012

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Amanda Bingson and Brett Zorich earned USTFCCCA All-America First Team and Second Team honors, respectively, after their performances at last week's 2012 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. This was the second consecutive year that the Rebel program had two student-athletes earn All-America recognition. It was the second career designation for Bingson, while it is the first for Zorich.

Bingson, who finished fourth overall at the NCAA Outdoor Championships last year, threw the hammer a distance of 219-8 (66.96m) last week. That measurement was good enough for third at the meet held at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.

Zorich finished 13th overall in the semifinals in the 800m. Her time of 2:04.54 was a personal-best and the second fastest on UNLV's outdoor performance list.

Overall, the Rebels finished the meet in a nine-way tie for 31st with a total of six points. UNLV sat deadlocked with East Carolina, Alabama, Missouri, California, Wisconsin, Dartmouth, West Virginia and Dartmouth.
