Cogdill, Green kick off multi-events at USA Junior Nationals

FORT COLLINS, Colo. --Six Colorado State track & field athletes will compete this week beginning Wednesday at the USA Junior Nationals and USA Championships held in Des Moines, Iowa, at Drake Stadium.
Jessica Green will be the first out of the gate taking part in the heptathlon starting at 11 a.m. MT, while Josh Cogdill will participate in the decathlon. Fellow underclassmen Jessi Macedo (javelin), Tyler Schultz (shot put and hammer) and Mariah Witt (400-meter hurdles) will compete in their respective events throughout the week.
The top finishers will advance to represent Team USA at the Junior Athletics Championships in Medellin, Colombia, on Aug. 23-25.
Kiah Hicks will be the only upperclassman taking part in the USA Championships. She’ll throw the discus on Sunday at 1:20 p.m.
Former greats in attendance
In addition to the six athletes listed above, former Rams Drew Loftin (hammer), Casey Malone (discus) and 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Janay DeLoach-Soukup (long jump) will all be at the meet. The event serves as the selection for spots to represent Team USA at the IAAF World Championships Aug. 10-18 in Moscow, Russia.
