(UNLVRebels.com) - Former UNLV student-athlete Christine Spence ran the seventh-fastest time in the first round of the women's 400m hurdles Thursday night at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Spence clocked a time of 56.28 and finished second overall in her heat.

Spence, who donned the Scarlet & Gray from 2001-05, advances to Friday's semifinals at 3:20 pm. She is hoping to improve upon her sixth-place finish at the 2011 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which coincidentally were also held in Eugene.
