Rebel Olympians Recognized By County Commissioners

LAS VEGAS ( - The Clark County Commissioners recognized UNLV's Amanda Bingson and Khadevis Robinson as well as local boxer Michael Hunter at Tuesday morning's meeting. The trio received proclamations from the county commissioners for making the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team.

"It is truly an honor to recognize these tremendous athletes who will be representing the United States and Clark County in this year's Olympics," Commission Chair Susan Brager said in a statement. "We all wish them much success in bringing home the gold."

Both Bingson, a local Las Vegan and graduate of Silverado High School, and Robinson finished second in their respective events, the women's hammer throw and men's 800m race, at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials held from June 21 to July 1 in Oregon.

Hunter, a graduate of Palo Verde High School, is a two-time national champion and Golden Gloves winner.
