Mountain West Announces Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - December 11, 2012

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boise State junior Jordin Andrade and sophomore Emma Bates have earned Mountain West Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors for meets contested from Nov. 30-Dec. 7, 2012. It is the first Mountain West weekly honor for Andrade and Bates.
Andrade, a native of Bonney Lake, Wash., won the 400-meter dash at the Jacksons Open and Multis on Dec. 1 in Nampa, Idaho. His personal-best time of 47.35 ranks first in the Mountain West and fourth in the NCAA this season. The mark is the second-fastest indoor 400-meter time in Bronco history. Andrade also ran the third leg for the winning 4x400-meter relay team. The quartet finished with a time of 3:12.93, which currently ranks first in the MW and fourth in the NCAA. It was the third-fastest time recorded in BSU indoor history.
A native of Elk River, Minn., Bates won the women's mile at the Jacksons Open and Multis with a time of 4:49.20. Her time ranks first in the NCAA and Mountain West this season and was the second-best mile time in Bronco history. She finished nine seconds ahead of her closest competitor.
